The Steady Day-Before Check

A steady hand beats a frantic one every time. A calm, even check the evening before keeps the small faults from bringing everything to a sudden halt on the day.

Begin with the lights, every one of them front and back, then the tyres, checking tread depth across the width and watching for the uneven wear that hints at alignment trouble.

Inside, run through the wipers and washers, the horn, the seatbelts and the warning lamps that should light and then clear; under the bonnet, top up fluids and look for anything weeping or perished.

None of this needs a workshop. It needs attention, and attention is precisely what separates a first-time pass from a return visit.
